The sample molecules are cooled in a supersonic expansion to temperatures around 5K.
The molecules absorb laser light inside the molecular beam chamber and
are electronically excited. The resulting fluorescence is imaged into a monochromator,
with which we record dispersed fluorescence (DF) spectra.
